Healthy Eating At High Point University
HIGH POINT - Everyone has been warned about the dreaded possibility of weight gain when coming to college. According to the Nutrition Journal, one in four students gain 5 percent of their body weight in their first semester.
So how are students at High Point University working to stay healthy? Alison Kudlick, a sophomore at HPU, uses the helpful tools provided by the school on all the eating locations' menus.
"Before deciding what I want to eat at the places on campus, I check the nutritional information provided on the menus. I love that our school has cared enough to give us that," said Kudlick.

Staying Healthy on Campus
While every location has plenty of healthy options to choose from, here are the top three healthiest dining locations HPU has to offer.
Farmers Market
The Farmers Market is known among students as the healthiest dining choice on campus. Every day, a make your own salad bar is set up. Each day, two different soups are available. Common options are tomato soup, vegetable soup, and broccoli cheddar soup. They also have a rotation of different sandwiches for students to enjoy.
The Café
The Café, or as students like to call it "The Caf", is always a great option if you're looking for a variety of choices. There is always an omelet station, where students can opt for egg whites rather than regular eggs for a healthier option. There is also always a steamed vegetables station where students can choose from a diverse group of vegetables to be steamed.
The Great Day Bakery
The Great Day Bakery is a good option for students who are fans of Panera Bread, as they are similar. At the Great Day Bakery, students have many options of soups, salads, wraps, and sandwiches.
